Closing the Teach For America Blogging Gap
Oct 29 2011

More sequels than that Michael Myers character

A new life experience, a new blog.

My first blog spanned a two year period documenting what I believed to be the most pivotal time in my life- the beginning of high school. This livejournal, whose link I shall never reveal, featured such storied posts as “100 things every guy should know about girls” and “What kind of ‘azn’ are you?”. My second blog, still floating around in cyberspace somewhere, chronicled my four months in the Arctic Circle, and hit 1000 views a day at its peak (mostly because of my mom’s infamous networking strategies). My reason for starting up blogging again should be pretty obvious- I am on the TeachForUs site, after all.

A prime motivation for getting through the first awful five weeks of school was coming on this website and reading horror stories from people leading similarly miserable existences. I copied and pasted inspirational TFU quotes onto my Facebook statuses and I took comfort in the fact that teachers were pulling through each day around all parts of America. I can only hope to pay it forward by sharing stories from my little underrepresented corner of the nation- St. Francis, South Dakota. Here’s to closing the TFA blogging gap!
